Bagmati Province Tourism Development Project, Unit Office Kathmandu in collaboration with Mandala Theatre-Nepal, is organizing a theatre production process workshop for young theatre enthusiasts. For this, Mandala Theatre-Nepal invites applications from passionate young theatre enthusiasts.

This is a unique opportunity to learn, collaborate, and create a full theatre production under the guidance of experienced theatre makers.

🔍 WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM?

A 6-week long free workshop where selected participants will:

  • Learn the complete theatre production process
  • Work closely with professional artists
  • Develop skills in their chosen areas
  • Collaborate to create a final theatre production
  • Perform the production at Mandala Theatre

🧩 PROGRAM STRUCTURE

  • 3 weeks – Core training + initial production process
  • 2 weeks – Integrated rehearsals with experienced artists
  • 1 week – Final technical rehearsals

🎭 Final Output:
A theatre production based on youth-related issues, followed by regular shows at Mandala Theatre

👥 WHO CAN APPLY?

We are looking for:

  • 15 young participants (Age 18–35) from Bagmati Province
  • Must have experience in at least 2 theatre productions
  • Interest in one or two of the following areas:
    • Acting
    • Direction
    • Set/Costume Design
    • Lighting
    • Sound/Music
    • Props
    • Marketing
    • Documentation

💡 WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

  • Free participation (no workshop fee)
  • Food & snacks during the workshop period
  • Certificate of participation
  • Opportunity to work in a full theatre production process
  • Public performances at Mandala Theatre

🎟️ PERFORMANCE & REVENUE SHARING

  • The final production will be performed for 3 weeks at Mandala Theatre
  • Mandala Theatre will provide the Small Hall for training, rehearsals, technical setup and runs and public performances
  • Ticket Revenue Model:
    • Initial ticket income will cover hall rental cost
    • Remaining profit (if any) will be shared as follows:
      • 60% – Mandala Theatre
      • 40% – Production Team (including trainee artists)
  • Trainee participants may receive a moderate financial share from the production if the show generates profit

⚠️ NOTE ON FINANCIALS

This workshop is primarily a learning and collaborative creation platform.
Any financial return depends on the success of the production and audience turnout.

📅 PROJECT TIMELINE

The training and production process starts from Jestha 1 to Asar 5 (Sunday-Friday | 12-5 pm). Participants should be available the whole day during final week of tech run to the premiere (Asar 6-12). The time of regular shows and especial booking shows will be determined from mutual understanding.
